The House of Nature Bojami

A land plot of 1,750 square meters within the village of Bojami is owned by The House of Nature Alliance, and a second plot of land with an area of 450 m2 was leased to the Alliance for 15 years. These sites will be developed as functioning eco-village demonstration sites to increase employment opportunities and retain youth in rural areas, and to:

  • Establish a community-led eco-district with organic farming systems.

  • Develop a functioning eco-village demonstration site for education and communication.

  • Promote diversified tourism, including eco, agro, religious, historical, and forest tourism.

  • Support sustainable wild forest product collection and small-scale agro-processing.

  • Strengthen local governance through a Village Development Committee.

Bojami is a village in the Samtavisi community of the Kaspi municipality, Shida Kartli region, in eastern Georgia, with a population of 251 people. The village has had a high mountain and highland status since 2015.

Bojami is a typical rural village with basic infrastructure and a population committed to sustainable development. The villagers strive to become a sustainable and representative model territory where ecological design, renewable energy sources, organic food production systems, waste recycling, and eco-friendly infrastructure coexist to maintain human health and the environment, which will contribute to the conservation of biodiversity and a low-carbon lifestyle

Bojami is surrounded by a forest on the northeast side, where oak, beech, hornbeam, maple, ash, and a small number of coniferous trees grow. It has a humid subtropical climate with cold winters and dry, warm summers. In the field of agriculture, the villagers are engaged in grain cultivation, horticulture, fruit growing, viticulture, honey, animal husbandry (milk, meat), and food crop production.
